Enfermeras Beverly
Protegiendo a nuestros pacientes…. Protegiendo a nuestra comunidad
Protecting our patients... Protecting our community
We are the Registered Nurses at Beverly Hospital, a small non-profit community hospital serving the California communities of Montebello, Pico Rivera, Monterey Park, El Monte, Whittier, and East Los Angeles.

In recent years, the quality of care at Beverly has plummeted. The hospital’s roof is leaking, there isn’t enough equipment for the level of care that people need and deserve, and existing equipment is broken. Further, wages are so low that the hospital can’t keep enough experienced nurses to maintain safe staffing levels – levels required by state law. We’re trying our best, but there just aren’t enough of us.

As dedicated Registered Nurses, we have made repeated individual attempts to speak to hospital administrators regarding our concerns but we have gotten nowhere. So we chose to form a union and affiliate with the AFSCME nurses. Since March 2011, we have been attempting to negotiate a union contract that will assure that there are enough experienced nurses to meet California safe staffing laws and to provide a structure that allows us to work with hospital administrators to improve patient care. Management has retained a well-known “union buster” attorney to negotiate the contract and little progress has been made.
